It was Thursday and Friday September 9 and 10, this year, that we celebrated the new year – Rosh hashana 5771. The members of our kehila, their relatives and friends gathered to celebrate the beginning of the New Year 5771, as it has become a tradition. Celebration took place on Tuesday September 14, so somewhere between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur, but as rabbi Stiefel said, all micvot done on Tuesday the week between Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur are considered to be twice as good, so Tuesday was a right day to meet and celebrate.
It was the third time we organize this celebration at our kehila and the most pleasant atmosphere of the meeting was underlined by rabbi Stiefel’s singing, Hasidic storytelling and blasting on shofar performing.
The Lekach – typical Jewish Rosh hashana honey cake from Bina, the wife of rabbi Stiefel, was not missing and the nice scent of it welcomed the guests coming to the synagogue.
Discussions and meetings took place long after the official celebration has ended.
Kehila Zilina whishes you a sweet and successful year 5771.
